Le chef Yannick Nézet-Séguin plonge avec passion et justesse dans les profondeurs de la septième symphonie de Chostakovitch pour en faire jaillir la lumière. Écrite en pleine Deuxième Guerre mondiale, la symphonie « Leningrad » est instantanément devenue un symbole d’espoir et de solidarité. Près d’un siècle plus tard, elle est toujours troublante d’actualité.
Soliste des plus estimées sur la scène internationale, la jeune prodige Maria Dueñas présente un trésor du répertoire qu’on a longtemps cru perdu à jamais : le Concerto pour violon de Halvorsen. Cette œuvre du compositeur norvégien a été retrouvée tout près d’ici, il y a quelques années à peine, à l’Université de Toronto.

Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes a passionate and exacting dive into Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 7 to make the piece shine. Written during World War II, the Leningrad symphony instantly became a symbol of hope and solidarity. Nearly a century later, it’s still disquietingly topical.
One of the world’s most renowned soloists, Maria Dueñas performs a jewel from the repertoire that was thought to be lost forever: Halvorsen’s Violin Concerto. The Norwegian composer’s piece was found a few years ago at the University of Toronto.
