Pre-Columbian Colombia – Unveiling truly amazing cultures in pre-Spanish Colombia
A Special Event for Alumni/ae of Harvard, Oxford, and the University of Cambridge
This is a special invitation to visit this historic exhibition and exploration of the fascinating civilizations of ancient Colombia currently being uncovered, identified, distinguished, researched, and protected. A first-of-its-kind exhibition, it presents over 400 art works, many in gold, others created in ceramic, textiles, or stone, from areas and diverse cultures ranging from jungle basins to the coasts. It also reflects in breathtaking artworks the priorities of those civilizations, notably respect for and intimate appreciation and protection of nature. From religious offerings to coca leaf use to domestic objects and musical instruments, this exhibition addresses issues, discussed in informative accompanying texts, that are very relevant to us today. Organized by the Los Angeles Museum of Art and Houston, together with many institutions internationally, including Colombian, this exhibition has been curated in Montreal by the Montreal Museum’s curator, Erell Hubert, an archaeologist specializing in this region, who received her D.Phil. from University of Cambridge.
Join us on August 30, when the informative and enthusiastic curator, Dr. Hubert, will welcome us and speak about the exhibition before inviting us into the exhibition.
This is a unique opportunity.
Limited tickets available.
Please arrive at 5:15pm as the event will start promptly at 5:30pm.
